Rebuilding icon cache makes no differnce. Have you tried to reset the Store app? I have tried to solve with Winaero Tweaker but the problem remians. I have also tried deleting the existing short cuts and creating new ones… but the problem remains. Any good sujestions? This trick seams to have been broken in an update for Windows 10 since; any ideas for alternate solutions?

When we reset icons, we force the OS to do this check for all icons manually by removing the image file associated with programs from the database. The fastest way to fix icons missing in Windows 10 is via the Command Prompt. With a few commands you can rebuild the icon cache and remove your broken icons.
Type ie4uinit. Both will be restored later. Windows will rebuild relevant icons after startup and the icons that disappeared from the desktop in Windows 10 should return.
